Idealist and dreamer for some, perfectionist and stubborn for others, Matthieu Torquebiau is above all passionate, a lover of nature and beautiful things. He is an oenologist by trade, and now vinifies two cuvees: l’Hermas White and l’Hermas Red. His wines can be found on the wine lists of some of the best Michelin-starred restaurants in France.

 

When he started Domaine l’Hermas in 2004, he was looking for a particular type of terroir. He wanted an elevated parcel of garrigue, with northern exposure, close to the family property. This “Hermas” was discovered abandoned, he cleared the land and planted Syrah and Mourvèdre.

 

Today the Domaine extends over approximately 10 hectares. After six years, the first vintage was born in 2009: elegant, fresh, and minerality from the Terrasses du Larzac.
