Founded in 1958, Domaine Christophe Mittnacht—Terre d’étoiles is a family-run estate led by the charming couple Christophe and Yuka Mittnacht. They farm some of the finest vineyards around the Hunawhir town, and are the first domaine to be officially certified organic and biodynamic in Alsace. All grapes are hand harvested and wholecluster pressed.

Their philosophy is to intervene as little as possible in the winemaking process, allowing wines to find their own balance. The alcoholic fermentation is initiated with a “house-made” yeast culture, created from grapes grown on their terroirs. With minimal intervention and letting the soil sing using neutral wood and tanks to deliver spot-on, expressive and beautifully delicate wines. Christophe harvests balanced fruit and avoids the excesses of alcohol and residual sugar that mask the freshness and florality that makes Alsace so special. ​
