LOIC MAHE
—Loire, Savennieres
“In taming my vines, I reveal the secrets of the terroirs that nourish them”
–Loic Mahe
The winemaker behind this domaine is a pioneer of biodynamic wine and a perfectionist whose ambition is to produce expressive terroir wines that respect the fragile balance of local flora and fauna.
Savennieres sits on the banks of the Loire River, south of Angers, and is an unspoiled natural haven of light for the chenin blanc grape variety. Loic Mahe found a south-facing weathered terroir rich in schist soil but without a single vine. This is an exceptional region at the forefront of producing immensely powerful dry white wines, hence, this was the place he chose to practice the art of winemaking.
