DOMAINE LOUIS CHENU

—Bourgogne, Cote de Beaune

Juliette and Caroline Chenu own 9.5ha of vineyards across eight locations in Bourgogne, Côte de Beaune.

Through 5 generations, the Chenu family has carefully curated their selection of vineyards based on the terroirs: sand, marl, calcareous clay, limestone, and volcanic subsoil (the domaine has been organic since 2006). The domaines history began with Juliette and Caroline’s great-grandfather, Louis Chenu, who purchased the first parcel in 1914.

In an average year, the estate produces 10 wines from Bourgogne Aligoté to Savigny premier crus. The grapes are hand-harvested and crushed by foot. Their philosophy is to make delicate and supple reds with a traditional vinification process. All grapes are destemed, maceration completed within two weeks, and fermentation is carried out naturally at low temperatures. After at least 18 months of aging, the red wines are bottled unfiltered.
